The Marlowe Society is thrilled to share the updated format of the Graduating Actors’ Showcase 2023!
The Marlowe prides itself on being, along with the proponent of Jacobean and classical texts and new writing, an intersection between student theatre and the industry. One of the crucial components to bridging the gap from amateur student theatre to success in the industry is the Graduating Actors Showcase. The Showcase, which premiers in Cambridge before moving to a performance in London for agents and industry professionals, is professionally directed and provides an opportunity for graduating actors to showcase their skills.
This year, to align with a changing industry and to best equip the actors to bridge the professional world, the Marlowe is providing these graduating actors with a useful toolkit going forward. For example, voice reels for voice acting, professionally filmed showreels to equip them in approaching agencies, a choice of Spotlight-approved headshots and Comp card for acting and potential modelling jobs. This is all in addition to the traditionally performed Showcase, and is valid for the actors for two years in their leap into the industry.
Last year, the Marlowe removed participation fees for the Showcase, working tirelessly as a society to ensure that actors are not denied a place in the Showcase due to financial capabilities. This year, the Marlowe is excited to share the continued expansion of the opportunities that Showcase provides. We will be hosting industry professionals in a series of workshops which are open to all.
