BME Shakespeare - LEAR
Directed by Rianna Davis
3-7 March 2020, 7:45 PM
Ageing patriarch and CEO Lear divides his thriving business empire among his three daughters. Requiring only their professions of love as evidence of their proficiency, Cordelia fails the test and is ruthlessly disinherited, leaving Regan and Goneril to their own devices. Meanwhile, Edmund, the illegitimate son of Gloucester, Lear’s business partner, chases what he believes to be his rightful inheritance.
When the two feuding families clash, and everyone's interests - and fortunes - are at stake, allegiances are broken and familial bonds betrayed.

‘I am not what I am.’
Othello has married Desdemona in secret. Iago has a vendetta to attend to. Before long, all three are caught in a web of lies and deceit that threatens to destroy them and everyone they love.
John Haidar returns to Cambridge Arts Theatre following his acclaimed production of Headlong’s Richard III to direct Shakespeare’s great tragedy of jealousy for the Marlowe Society.
