Vault is a new Marlowe initiative in which we reach - you guessed it! - into the literary vault to find some of the best and most interesting forgotten plays of the early modern period. We prep the script, cast the play, and then have just one day to block and rehearse a script-in-hand performance, presented for free that night in the English Faculty's Judith E. Wilson Studio. We do this in conjunction with a research group or an individual academic, who suggests a play related to their interests and either gives a talk or organises a panel before or after the show. We started in 2016 with Nicholas Udall's Ralph Roister Doister (presented with the Centre for Mediaeval and Early Modern Law and Literature). This year, we hope to present one each term, and we have an excited season lined up already!
